Back in 1992...

Advantage Research is proud to be celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2022! As part of the celebration, we thought it would be fun to look back at a few things that were going on the year that owner Lori Gutbrod founded Advantage Research. In 1992…

  • The national average price for a gallon of gas was $1.13. Go ahead and take a minute to collect yourself if needed after reading that!

  • Arkansas Governor and Presidential candidate Bill Clinton played the saxophone on the Arsenio Hall show. Clinton would go on to defeat incumbent President George H. W. Bush and Independent Ross Perot in the 1992 Presidential election. Saxophone sales would nearly double in the years that followed.

  • The 27th Amendment to the US Constitution, which was submitted to the states by the very first Congress in 1789, is ratified over 200 years later. The Amendment prevents members of Congress from granting themselves pay raises during the current session—saved you a trip to Google!

  • Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her ruby jubilee commemorating 40 years on the throne. Not everything has changed since 1992!

  • In the NFL, The Green Bay Packers trade a 1st round pick to the Atlanta Falcons for a young quarterback prospect out of The University of Southern Mississippi named Brett Favre.

  • “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men tops the Billboard Hot 100 charts, edging out Sir-Mix-A-Lot's “Baby Got Back” and “Jump” by Kriss Kross. Good luck getting those songs out of your head for the rest of the day!

  • Turner Broadcasting debuts the Cartoon Network, blessing owner Lori with options to keep daughter Rachel and son Max occupied while she works on research reports. Mitch had not yet joined the party.
